Virtual SeaPerch (V-Perch)

Owner: Lynn

Project members: 6

Description:

The Virtual SeaPerch (V-Perch) Project is a 3-dimensional (3D) modeling training program designed to complement the existing SeaPerch program – an underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV) kit developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in partnership with the Navy. SeaPerch teaches secondary level students about marine engineering and technology through project-based learning and hands-on discovery.

V-Perch (Phase I) is a virtual prototype developed by 3D Academy in partnership with isisHawaii and The Pacific American Foundation, funded by the Office of Naval Research. V-Perch will allow students to explore the design, building and testing of the SeaPerch ROV in a virtual environment before an actual physical build. Participating in the pilot are teachers from Kailua Intermediate School, Ke Kula ‘o Samuel M Kamakau PCS and Hakipu‘u PCS.
